Aug. 2018 - Apr. 2020Johannesburg, Gauteng, South AfricaAs the Market Manager for Sub Saharan Africa in the Attractions business unit, my goal from the beginning was simple: open up new e-commerce products for our hotel guests to access as part of their purchase experience to alleviate friction, unlock new and desired experiences and allow seamless and cashless mobility. 2 years later and a host of live marketplaces in multiple countries later, my role has been indefinitely transformational. A hybrid Business Development & Project Management role, I have strategised scaling activities and timelines across Sub Saharan Africa, built partnerships with SaaS connectivity providers, worked closely with Government institutions and established direct partnerships with the region’s most iconic landmarks, museums and experiences. In addition, my responsibilities include: ☛ Business Development and Account Management of Experiences partners in existing and future-launch destinations.
☛ Consulting with external SaaS connectivity providers to identify commercial and development opportunities.
☛ Representing the Business Unit in the region to internal and external stakeholders; presenting at trade and business conferences, participating in panel discussions, hosting industry gatherings and attending trade events.
☛ Recruiting and mentoring new team members.
☛ Developing new tools and resources.
☛ Aggregating and analysing feedback to support Booking.com with future product initiatives.
☛ Providing local perspective on preferred approach.
☛ Proactively identifying opportunities to improve the customer and partner experience and operational
efficiency.
☛ Leveraging existing partner relationships to build a network of product ambassadors for Booking
Experience.
☛ Providing training to existing partners.
