VeryTech Resource LtdContract Professional Services Consultant
Aug. 2016 - Nov. 2019With UBS Bank as an end customer, I took over engineering duties of the SevOne platform as part of the Network Tools Engineering team. Developing new reporting capabilities, architecting and designing new product offerings from the vendor, implementing and testing software upgrades in an engineering environment and carrying out device certifications as new devices were onboarded or current devices had new software revisions applied. Highlights include: Device Certification Automation: Writing numerous php scripts to automate the collection of data for device certifications, outputting to wiki code and reducing the time taken for certifications by at least half. Dataminer: Implemented and tested a solution for the Security team that forwarded specified performance data to Splunk at near real time frequencies. This work negated the need to engage with SevOne professional services, saving UBS appx £30,000 in fees. With Vodafone as an end customer, I lead new device type approvals as a contract consultant and project manager in charge of configuring InfoVista reports on new device types. I performed manual seed file creation, rule sanity checking, metric documentation and reporting, and presentation in Vista Portal. During my tenure, I have successfully stewarded several device type approvals, including Cisco ASR ASR9922/9001/9101v1/9010v2, Cisco 3850, and Juniper MX480, including ratification within 60% of deadline and resulting in £12k in savings. Some projects include: Dedicated Ethernet: Spearheaded a challenging project with a 95% completion of development prior to hand over to permanent resource; oversaw project management and reporting for Ciena devices. Platform Monitoring: Implemented strategies to write a script series responsible for monitoring Oracle tablespace and SDM portal database sizes, portal logins, and data security, and automation.
