I would assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes while learning about different culinary techniques, kitchen equipment, food safety, and hygiene practices. My Roles and Responsibilities included:
Assisting in Food Preparation: - Help in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and cutting vegetables, fruits, and meats. - Measure and weigh ingredients according to recipes. - Assist in preparing basic dishes such as salads, appetizers, and sauces.
Cooking and Plating: - Learn and practice various cooking methods, such as boiling, grilling, frying, baking, and steaming. - Follow recipes and instructions provided by senior chefs to cook dishes to the required standard. - Assist in plating and presenting dishes to ensure they meet the restaurant's quality and aesthetic standards.
Maintaining Cleanliness and Hygiene: - Ensure that the kitchen and work areas are clean, sanitized, and organized at all times. - Wash and store kitchen utensils, equipment, and dishes.
Learning and Development: - Actively participate in training sessions, workshops, and practical demonstrations provided by senior chefs. - Seek feedback from supervisors to improve cooking techniques and knowledge.
Inventory Management: - Assist in the management of kitchen inventory, including checking stock levels and reporting shortages. - Help with receiving, unpacking, and storing food deliveries in line with food safety guidelines.
Supporting Senior Chefs:
- Be ready to take on additional tasks as directed by the head chef or kitchen manager.
Adapting to Kitchen Environment: - Adapt to the dynamic environment of the kitchen, working efficiently under pressure. - Develop time management skills to ensure tasks are completed within the required time frame.
