Sep. 2011 - Jan. 2013Hamburg Area, GermanyI moved to Germany as an opportunity arose to work with a former colleague at JWT in Hamburg. This role was conceptual, technical and project management. Our main client was Bayer and we produced several brand sites, but the main project was the launch of their Berocca product for the German market. We created a timed general knowledge quiz within the brand launch site, this was linked to the suppliers data source - so that when the user succeeded they would be shipped a free trial of the product.

SapientNitroHead of Creative Technology
Jan. 2007 - Jul. 2011London, United KingdomI started as a senior producer at a small digital agency called Mook. Mook was acquired by the traditional advertising agency Nitro and Nitro was ultimately bought by Sapient. Here I gained a great deal of industry experience. I managed several large scale project for clients such as Pernod Ricard, Foot Locker and Mars Foods. I was part of pitch teams that won a large amount of business, including winning thebeatles.com project. It was during this employment that under the leadership of Kate Howe, I was given the opportunity to become a digital conceptual creative. This lead to my promotion to Head of Creative Technology as I pushed the digital offerings of Nitro's clients into fields such as online gaming. I was also the technical architect of the internal communication system for Mars Foods PLC - one of the world's biggest employers. At Sapient I even worked as a more traditional creative on TVCs.

Miva, Inc.Head of Implementations
Apr. 2006 - Mar. 2007London, United KingdomMIVA were a leader in the 'pay-per-click' content market prior to Google's dominance in this industry. I started as a specialist, and moved up to leading a team of developers. Our focus was to work with content destinations and place paid for content in their sites. We had to understand a wide range of frameworks and content management system in order to produce the code the would draw in MIVA PPC content into our partner sites. This job required a solid understanding of both front end technologies and best practices in user experience. Technologies used: JS, ASP, PHP, Coldfusion, Flash, ASP.net, C#

LEWIS PRIT Director
Aug. 2004 - May. 2005London, United KingdomI moved to London and took a job as a web developer at LEWIS. I also undertook a major audit and upgrade of the internet connectivity for various offices. This resulted in much better services for far lower costs. Technologies used: LAMP PHP, Flash, JS
Senior Developer
RMRISenior Developer
Jun. 2001 - Aug. 2004Manchester, United KingdomAt RMRI I switched to applications development. I worked on applications that calculate Probable Loss of Life (PLL) on large scale assets in the oil & gas industry (oil rigs, supply ships, etc). This was a huge change of focus and incredibly rewarding. The software we developed allowed risk analysts to create an event tree points of failure for the asset, things like particular equipment exploding or life boat launches failing. The software drew on a huge amount of empirical data and complex mathematical and engineering functions to produce results. The software was mainly used to assess what types and levels of insurance should be applied to these assets. In time I extended these services so much of the information regarding assets could be entered online and batch processed. I also spent time working with analysts in Newfoundland, Canada. Technologies used: Windows server/IIS/MS SQL Linux/Apache/MySQL VB6, PHP, VB.Net, ASP.Net, JS, Perl
Developer
Aonix LtdDeveloper
Sep. 2000 - Jun. 2001Manchester, United KingdomAonix were mainly a Lotus Domino solutions vendor. I joined them to enable them to offer mainstream web development and related consultancy. Here I worked with clients such as AstraZeneca to develop web based communications systems. There were also several local government clients whom I provided consultancy for regarding setting up their own intranets. Technologies used: Windows NT/IIS/MS SQL Linux/MySQL/Apache ASP, PHP, JS
Web Manager
The Manchester Metropolitan UniversityWeb Manager
Feb. 1999 - Sep. 2000Manchester, United KingdomI was responsible for the Faculty of Science and Engineering's web presence. Prior to my arrival all the departments had been responsible for their own sites (hosting, style and content). The first task was to rationalise all these separate sites into a coherent faculty offering. Once this process was complete we added services to aid students and lecturers, for example a moderated database of links to course relevant content. The major success was the implementation of a real time tracking and chat system that allowed admissions staff to interact directly with potential students who were looking at courses on the faculty website. This resulted in a sharp increase in foreign students, and a huge upturn in income for the faculty. Technologies used: Windows NT/IIS/MS SQL Linux/MySQL/Apache ASP, PHP, JS
Intranet Webmaster
Manchester City CouncilIntranet Webmaster
May. 1998 - Feb. 1999Manchester, United KingdomI was tasked to create the council's first intranet from scratch. It was an amazing opportunity for someone fresh out of university; I had to select and configure the server environment, design & develop the actual site and structure and train the content producers. I actually selected Frontpage 98 as the content management method, this product allowed WYSIWYG HTML editing and content creators could publish to AWS on their team leaders computer to be reviewed prior to being published either to the departmental head or straight to production. The site grew rapidly as it was rolled out across the council, and proved an invaluable information sharing portal. Technologies used: Windows NT/IIS/MS SQL ASP, JS and HTML
