I always had an image of having my own bakery 'Pops Nice Buns' - yeah, you read that right - and it wasn't until I had to start choosing my academic future that I had any doubts I'd get there. Like many I chose to take the academic route with my education that left some of the more creative passions aside, which led me into my current world of Marketing. I LOVE being able to let my creative flag fly at work, but I've still never let my dream of having a bakery pass me by. So here I am, giving it the good ol' college try... and Gluten-Free, too! Around 6 years ago I was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance and like many I found it hard. It was difficult to turn to a whole new diet when my family wasn't doing the same. It was difficult to find yummy things to eat when I was out with my friends. Not to mention, it was expensive! Alas, I still went 100% gluten-free, live in a fully GF household and feel a million times better every day. Since then we've researched, travelled and visited some absolutely incredible dedicated gluten-free establishments all over the world with endless pastries, cakes, pizzas, pastries and more... all that we could eat. But at home, it can be so much more difficult. I don't doubt that as a nation we're on our way to being a lot more accessible for allergy diets and there will be more and more dedicated establishments pop-up over time. So what better time for me to start my bakery than now? I'm thrilled to be investing in my dream with the added twist of baking 100% gluten-free, to try and help make gluten-free yumminess more accessible to us Brits. So, I'm off to the kitchen 👩🏽🍳
