Inherently diverse as a woman of color, I have experienced the impact of being othered throughout my childhood. Feeling like I belong was a foreign concept. I therefore spent most of my childhood and early adolescent years perpetuating an immense desire to explain how I’m different, whether in terms of the Hindu culture and customs, religious preferences, or simply describing our native attire. Of course, all of this made me feel a huge sense of pride. Fast forward to the world we live in today and considering how the workplace has become significantly more diverse, I ask myself, “is this all at the expense of a sense of belonging and feeling respected despite our differences?” This question sets the foundation for my deep desire to career pivot into Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB). I want to be at the forefront of instituting much needed change in this space, no matter how difficult or challenging. Tackling challenges as a problem solver has been an underlying theme of my career from full-cycle sales to currently project management with the federal government. Whether understanding pain points or addressing the needs of my most recent federal government clients, I continue to maintain a collaborative, yet strong work ethic. The transferable skills I bring as I seek to become a key contributor in the DEI space include: 1. Empathetic leadership 2. Impactful problem-solving skills 3. Collaborative work ethic and 4. High emotional intelligence I am particularly passionate about disability and LGBTQ+ inclusion. These two very marginalized communities deserve to be seen, heard and most importantly valued. I firmly agree with Roy T. Bennett when he states, “Success is not how you have climbed, but how you make a positive difference to the world.”

Aug. 2018 - Jan. 2024United StatesHeld several different positions throughout my tenure with Akytech Consulting, to include HR Manager, Talent Acquisition Specialist, Business Analyst supporting a federal government contract with The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to Project Manager for three other federal government contracts with FAA, USAF SBIRS and USAF METC, totaling approximately 65 employees In a client-facing role, supported the Food and Drug Administration in their Strategic Communications initiatives supporting the Office of the Chief Scientist Collaborated with other team members in completion of various deliverables, to include a SWOT analysis of current state versus future state communications requirements Supported the development of a strategic communications plan designed to address the various initiatives of the Office of the Chief Scientist As HR Manager, engaged in strategic decision making to ensure all talent acquisition requirements were met per federal government contract; Managed all HR processes to include interfacing with the recruiting team, to onboarding to benefits administration As a Project Manager for multiple contracts, lead with empathy and emotional intelligence; Emphasized continued employee engagement through active listening and ongoing problem solving
