Nov. 2009 - Jan. 2023Sydney, AustraliaThe Deb Bailey Foundation Inc was set up to raise money for medical research aimed at finding a cure for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a deadly, debilitating and presently incurable disease that affects the nervous system. Our focus is to assist the sufferers and their loved ones by supporting MND research who are working towards breakthroughs, and eventually a cure for this devastating disease. MND kills over 600 Australians per year, often within a year of being diagnosed. A significant milestone in this quest has now been reached that will give great hope to those affected by MND. We are very happy to announce that on the 6th June 2013 Australia’s first research centre totally dedicated to MND was opened at Macquarie University within the Medical precinct of their North Ryde campus. The Deb Bailey MND Research Centre is located at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine (ASAM) at Macquarie University Our thanks go to Macquarie University for their vision and significant financial support and especially to the Vice Chancellor Bruce Downton, Professor Simon Foote, Dean of ASAM and the eminent researchers who have made this research centre a reality. The Deb Bailey MND Research Centre brings together 5 of Australia’s leading MND researchers in a modern well resourced centre of excellence.
