Apr. 2019 - Jan. 2023SingaporeI was recruited to lead digital transformation and enhance business planning across Asia, at a time when Manulife was striving to sharpen its technological capabilities. As AVP, I built and led 15 direct reports to spearhead enterprise technology, infrastructure delivery, business operations and project management initiatives across Manulife’s Asia business, totaling US$131M in budget. Under my leadership, we implemented network transformation projects, end-user transformation strategy, cloud migration journeys and cyber security projects. I also led Manulife’s multi-campus delivery strategy and resource rebalancing strategy in Asia, delivering annual savings of circa $800k. We successfully resolved complex vendor disputes. Besides driving business impact, I’m also proud of being recognized as an excellent people manager and leader. I consistently received a high 4.8 engagement rating from direct reports, in internal Gallup leadership surveys. I also successfully secured promotions for 2 direct reports. My time at Manulife further solidified my desire to help enterprises spearhead their business planning, operations and technology transformation journeys, to navigate an increasingly digital world.

These projects covered pre-sales engagement, project delivery and post-merger integration activities. Besides client-facing activities, I also enhanced internal business capabilities and operations by introducing business intelligence tools to develop dashboards and reports for tracking purposes.

Worth US$1M in contract value per project, these projects covered >5 domains: infrastructure, cloud development, data migration, data centre operations, application development, cyber, network and service management. With outstanding business performance, I was selected for and completed a 9-month stint in the Middle East to deliver payments, delivery and resourcing project for an enterprise client. As a key member of the team, I also established the firm’s Enterprise Technology Practice in the Middle East, where I designed SOPs and best practices.
