SUN BRANDING SOLUTIONSHead Of Technology
Apr. 2013 - Jul. 2015Greengates, Nr Bradford, UKAs the most senior technical person in our group and heading up the development, support and infrastructure for Sun Branding Solutions' multi-million pound per year software division, I'm responsible for ensuring that our blue-chip client portfolio of brands and retailers get cutting-edge software, delivered on time and within budget. I took on an under-motivated department plagued by high staff turnover and low morale, which had consistently failed to correctly set expectations or meet requirements, and in which costs continued to climb while outputs fell; a little under a year later that's turned around completely and the team is now producing high quality products - with clients actually going out of their way to thank us for the experience of recent deployments - on time, to budget and exceeding expectations along the way. - Transformed the team from an under-performing, high turnover organisation into a highly motivated group producing excellent software on time, leading to an additional £3m of client wins - Instigated a decision to pursue Microsoft Gold Application Development Partner status, yielding a bottom line licensing fee saving in excess of £180,000 over three years - Championed a move to a Platform as a Service (PaaS) cloud offering with Microsoft Azure, creating flexibility in our deployments, adding scalability to our environments and the ability to rapidly respond to changing customer workloads while saving upwards of £200,000 in the first year in hosting and capital expenditure - Initiated and oversaw development of a new, lower-TCO offering for our portfolio, enabling entry into smaller customers - Re-established project delivery roadmap, transforming the requirements analysis and documentation process to deliver better results, faster - Reduced the support backlog by upwards of 6 months, implementing a response-time SLA for the first time and getting resolution back within SLAs, yielding a significant improvement in customer satisfaction
