Invented numerous camera positioning devices, tripod indexing heads, motorized turntables and 2-axis positioning systems. Implemented new CAD system routines to aid in advanced system designs (IFF Antenna Systems). Was responsible for introducing Apple Macintosh computers to Engineering department and company to address the requirements of technical publications and diagrams. Responsible for the specification and purchase of Macintosh computers and LaserWriter printers - effort was highly successful. Within a year, RCA had purchased dozens of Macintosh computers and several LaserWriter printers. Developed design automation macros and programs to streamline the design of mechanical structures of radar systems. Wrote programs in PL/1 derived programming language. Spearheaded group to install and implement a CAD Document Management System. System controlled access to documents and provided design history and facilitated ECN system. Provided first tier support to mechanical engineers and designers using the Applicon Bravo CAD systems.

Jan. 1982 - Jan. 1984Handpicked from RCA Labs to establish design team at this new start-up company which was founded by Fred Kulicke (One of the founders of Kulicke and Soffa). Managed mechanical design engineering tasks of semiconductor inspection machinery. Designed tooling for automated wire bonding of Atari game cartridge circuit boards. Tooling worked in conjunction with Kulicke & Soffa wire bonder. Designed and built automated statistical inspection machine for Fairchild Semiconductor. Device used DC servo motors with optical encoders for absolute positioning.

RCA Laboratories - David Sarnoff Research CenterAssociate Member of the Technical Staff

Jan. 1979 - Jan. 1982Responsible for the mechanical design of machinery to build consumer electronic products (i.e. disk players, televisions,satellite dish antennas) Lead CAD/CAM designer and CAD systems programmer (Computervision CADDS4). Designed automated assembly equipment for RCA videodisk players. Invented device to disperse aerosol lubricant (silicone) onto the surface of videodiscs. Device relied on ultrasonic transducer to atomize silicone oil into vapor. Developed custom CAD macros and programs for design automation purposes.
