In his first year in the role (which followed the acquisition of NetSpot where Steve held a senior leadership role), Steve successfully brought two separate sales organisations together and won Blackboard’s Regional Vice President of the Year award. Under Steve’s leadership, ANZ quickly became Blackboard’s most successful market to include a high proportion of Moodle institutions alongside Blackboard’s traditional market. Having Blackboard's highest University sector penetration in the world and state-level accounts in K12 and Vocational Education, Steve’s role in ANZ regularly included escalated support for the team in executive client negotiations, large deal development and in leading public events. In an increasingly competitive environment, Blackboard’s GTM team more than doubled to over 35 staff under Steve’s leadership. In introducing and managing successful partnerships with Synapsys, Kaltura and IBM and being first to successfully introduce the Blackboard Transact product line outside of North America, Steve diversified Blackboard's business in ANZ which became renowned as leading region for innovation within Blackboard. Holding primary financial accountability for ANZ, the business achieved consistent year on year recurring revenue growth in every year of Steve’s leadership (marking 10 consecutive years across NetSpot and Blackboard).

Holding many leadership roles in a fast growing organisation, Steve was primarily responsible for ensuring that NetSpot developed productive partnerships with new and existing clients over the long term. Steve lead the Business Development and Strategic Marketing teams at NetSpot which drove revenue growth of 71.5% for FY2011 and pushed profit margin over 20%.
