Nov. 2006 - Oct. 2009Sunnyvale, CANovember 2006- November 2008: Organized proposal development process to present Santa Clara Unified School District with a comprehensive plan to bring an educational, sustainable farm to 11 acres of underutilized district land. Key accomplishments: • Served as lead author of a 92-page proposal, organized and ran community meetings, collected over 3,000 signatures, and gave 2 presentations to the SCUSD governing board – resulting in a unanimous board vote
• Created and delivered education programs to the students of Santa Clara Unified School District
• Managed program staff, volunteers, oversaw grant-writing, communications, public relations, and fundraising effort, planned and coordinated 3 major festivals and numerous community events • Promoted to Interim Executive Director 10/2008 November 2008- September 2009:
Acting director of multi-site nonprofit with two major projects: Full Circle Farm, an 11-acre educational farm on a middle school campus, and Charles Street Gardens, a 92-plot community garden site. Key accomplishments:
• Facilitated strategic planning process for the organization and wrote 5-year strategic plan
• Raised over $800K while cultivating critical partnerships and foundation support
• Created a strong and compelling local media presence, and built positive, consistent relationships with school, community, and organizational partners
• Designed green jobs training program for 12 “at risk” youth with the EDD’s NOVA Youth@Work program
• Served as lead planner for free community Earth Day festival attracting over 6000 visitors
