Senior UX Developer
Trader Media GroupSenior UX Developer
Aug. 2012 - Mar. 2013Wimbledon, London, UKAutoTrader.co.uk is the UK’s leading motoring website with monthly unique users of up to 10 million per month. At Trader Media, I was part of mixed team which included JavaScript and Java developers, BAs and QAs which collaborated on developing projects and new implementations for the AutoTrader.co.uk website. We used a super agile methodology, with flavours of Kanban and XP (pair programming), focussing on TDD / BDD best practices. Within the project we mainly worked on, we took a classical search page and converted it to a single page web app using patterns such as pub/sub and later mediator, bringing together new HTML5 features. As main development framework, we chose Backbone.JS and for unit testing, we used Jasmine.JS. We started to convert old Twist integration tests into full JavaScript stack composed of CasperJS / PhantomJS / Grunt / NodeJS. Another focus was on improving the overall modularity (AMD modules) of the project using libraries like RequireJS. We held weekly UX meetings with educational presentations on the latest trends and technologies. We also had quarterly hackathon sessions.

I have implemented several of the components of this platform which allowed the setup and management of a 100% customisable website with gaming and social mechanics, using Dojo as main development framework. I was responsible with the day-to-day development (including writing unit tests), styling the web components using CSS3, writing documentation on the wiki, or refactoring using the latest JS libraries and plugins.
Web Developer
OmniPerceptionWeb Developer
Sep. 2010 - Jul. 2011OmniPerception, a private British company founded in 2001, is a global supplier of computer vision capabilities, specialising in facial biometrics and advanced image processing. The company’s software provides automated solutions for the recognition of objects and people in a wide range of customer applications – offering significant added benefits in performance and reliability. At OmniPerception I created the web client for one of their flagship products, called CheckPoint.S, on top of their face-recognition technology integrated API. CheckPoint.S is the Real-Time Facial Surveillance and recognition solution, the product has just reached version 2.0, and the web core solution is based on Zend Framework, for server-side processes, and ExtJS3 as main development framework for the client-side, completed with Socket.IO/NodeJS stack for real-time notifications, but also side technologies like AJAX, HTML5, CSS2/3. Lately I was working on the core architecture of the next version of CheckPoint.S which was built on top of ExtJS4 for client-side process flow, and Python Tornado/Django/Tornad.IO (Socket.IO protocol implementation for Python) for real-time notifications system. I was actively involved with the technical and managerial team in the development of this product.
Senior Web Developer
RainmakerSenior Web Developer
Dec. 2008 - Sep. 2010At Rainmaker I have created and maintained web applications and websites built on a wide range of technologies. The main activity of Rainmaker is sales and marketing programs, but they also build custom software solutions for their clients. The majority of the back-end code is written in PHP, using mostly CakePHP as main development framework, with heavy usage of ExtJS & jQuery to provide rich interfaces at the front-end, but also side technologies such as AJAX, (X)HTML, CSS and DRY/KISS methodologies. One of my major projects was to fully develop a web application similar to BaseCamp or Severa, a project management tool, around “Software As A Service” deployment model. I was responsible for the whole development life cycle of the system: analysis, specification building, database modeling, design and development, coding server/client sides, testing and maintenance, even the graphical concept . The app also uses advanced caching techniques, heavy use of latest trends/techniques in web development. Also, I had to setup and deploy the project over the scope of several months. To achieve this I had to liaise closely with members of Rainmaker, as well as providing detailed and thorough progress reports as the project developed. The platform was adopted in its early stages by one of Rainmaker's blue chip clients, so I had to take part in the design, concept and application architecture meetings with their directors to help visualise the creative concept from sketch to code. I have also developed custom Javascript components, HTML5/CSS and client side scripts for data driven web pages using RESTful web service architecture (JSON objects).
Project Manager
Euromed SRLProject Manager
Oct. 2006 - Nov. 2008Bacau, RomaniaAs project manager, I managed a team of 7 web developers and graphic designers in the implementation of many websites, for various clients. I mentored the web developers during client-side programming stage and helped them understand and use JavaScript libraries, seek best practices, taught them modern JavaScript techniques, writting better documentation, enforcing project standards. I often acted like lead developer along with the rest of the team when tight deadlines required that. Also, I've worked and collaborated with various business units to get their products online or to assess the technical impact of business requirements and to reach consensus on alternative solutions when necessary in an effort to maintain a consistent yet flexible architecture. I contributed to the company's growth identifying the business development and “add-on” sales opportunities as they related to a specific project. The back-end code was written in PHP, using mostly CakePHP as main development framework, with heavy usage of ExtJS & jQuery to provide rich interfaces at the front-end, but also side technologies as AJAX, (X)HTML, CSS and DRY/KISS methodologies. As major achievements, I developed a web application for a secondary school, a virtual space for students, parents and teachers, acting together like an online community. The interface was fully built using JavaScript/HTML/CSS, and the components were linked using custom events. One of the hardest tasks I had to accomplish was to ensure the whole app is usable in all the modern browsers. This was an incredibly exciting and challenging job as so much thought has to go into every aspect of planning and building. I also built a very nice administration panel for a real-estate agency and I also developed custom CRM modules for a company from Netherlands, using XML configuration files and dynamically build components according to those files.
