Additionally, I aim to inform around biophilia and how to introduce it into designs through our CPD program targeted towards architects and interior designers. Plant Designs focuses upon the design, installation, and maintenance of planting schemes to ensure the highest quality of plants is upheld and the crucial wellbeing benefits resultant from interacting with nature are provided. Such benefits include increased productivity, creativity, positivity and social cohesion. We specialise in office spaces but also supply natural design for events and other suitable spaces.

As part of my work in this placement, I developed the following report that includes mapping and statistics I produced during my time at Birmingham City Council.

During this time I assisted with various residential schemes. For instance, finding comparables for sites, as well as joining on surveys such as building and dilapidation surveys and attending many site visits for prospective residential developments. This placement allowed me to make many connections in the residential department and discover in depth what each role is responsible for.

Operation WallaceaResearch Assistant - Madagascar
Jun. 2018 - Jul. 2018MadagascarI spent 2 and a half weeks as a research assistant volunteer to leading scientists in their field, on a conservation projection in Madagascar. We examined the ecosystem of the dry Madagascan forest in the north of the country and this involved studying the different species in the forest and their behavioural patterns. All data collected was then used in academic literature. This experience allowed me to establish crucial skills such as creating relationships with people and establishing a network of friends in a very unfamiliar environment for us to then work as a cohesive team. The importance of making these relationships was heightened due to embarking on this expedition on my own.

Mar. 2016 - Apr. 2016Kathmandu, Bāgmatī, NepalI visited Nepal for three weeks to teach in the Peace Garden School on the edge of Kathmandu. I also worked in a team to carry out research into the socio-economic impacts of the earthquake in 2015, following the devastating earthquakes they experienced in the previous year.
