Peachtree Corners City CouncilCity Councilman
Apr. 2012Peachtree Corners, GAFounding Member of the City Council. First elected in 2012, I have been re-elected three more times. One of my passions has been the creation and continued enhancement of the Town Green area, particularly Fort Pain, the adult obstacle course. I am the founder of both the Peachtree Corners Decathlon and the Memorial Day Challenge which are annual physical fitness competitions held at Fort Pain. Other accomplishments while on Council - NEVER voted in favor of a property tax
- Voted AGAINST apartments 90% of the time. Strong advocate for maintaining a residential housing balance that would be majority ownership
- Town Center project (paid for with cash) that has become the heart and gathering place for our community
- Curiosity Lab - Originated the idea and then successfully lobbied the Council to support the initiative that eventually became our most successful and internationally known economic development project
- Simpsonwood - Supported providing financial assistance to the County to allow the 227 acre to be purchased and then maintained as parkland for all to enjoy
- Veterans Monument - Co-originated with Mayor Mason the vision for the project that Bob Ballagh later brought to life
- Intuitive Surgical - Successful economic development project that will result in over $500M in new investment, the adding of over 1200 jobs ($130k average salary) and an estimated 16,000 hotel visits per year
- Prudent Finances - The City has a AA+ bond rating (2nd highest possible), a ZERO millage rate, a reserve fund that is 4x what is considered the gold standard for municipal finances and relatively low debt
- Town Center Playground - The driving force behind getting Council approval of this wildly popular new amenity
- Path to Fitness - Instrumental in the creation of this challenging obstacle course that draws visitors from across the metro area
- Town Center Dog Park - Catalyst behind the creation of what has become an incredibly popular attraction at the Town Center
