One of the key objectives of the World Challenge ethos is to leave a positive impact on the communities we engage with. During the expedition, we built a boundary fence at a primary school in a rural village, using funds raised in South Africa. This project, which took four days to complete, was a direct contribution to the local community. In addition to the fence construction, we also dedicated 36 hours to community service throughout the expedition, further supporting our goal of creating meaningful, lasting change. Later, we hiked Mount Kinabalu to experience the sunrise, a challenge that tested both individual perseverance and team cooperation. In the final days, we had the opportunity to explore Malaysia and immerse ourselves in its rich Malay culture. This expedition was an incredibly eye-opening and humbling experience, which not only strengthened personal and collective confidence but also reinforced the values of community engagement and responsible citizenship.
