In the course of a genetic screen, I identified a role for anti-apoptotic pathways in the maintenance of a key cellular component of the testis stem cell niche in Drosophila. Moreover, different experimental paradigms were used to provide the first comprehensive analysis on the effects of a progressive niche reduction on the testis stem cell pool.
