To collate evidence by way of victim, witness and suspect interviewing. To prepare, and submit reports to HM Coroner and HM Courts. To liaise with partner agencies to reduce the number of people killed or serious injured through intelligence led enforcement initiatives. To review each Police Pursuit within the Force area to ensure strict compliance with Force Policy and Approved Professional Practice (APP). To identify good practice and remedy poor performance by liaising with the Driving School. To record and submit data to the Home Office/College of Policing documenting each Pursuit. To write detailed reports outling any safety critical incidents which need to be reviewed at the National Working Group. The role of the RP SIO is crucial to the efficient investigation of a fatal collision. The RP SIO acts as the lead investigator for all fatal collisions. Given that the circumstances of a fatal collision investigation will vary on a case-by-case basis, this role is not department or rank- specific.
