Global Spine OutreachExecutive Director
Jan. 2013 - Dec. 2019Chicago, ILI developed and oversaw the Global Spine Outreach 501(c)(3) organization to provide free spine surgery to children with complex spinal deformities internationally through medical mission trips. I managed, directed, and optimized volunteer network of 100+ medical professionals, surgeons, and philanthropic individuals. Also, I delivered ongoing education to medical professionals on how best to treat these patients effectively and safely. In addition, I reported on the direction and outcomes of the organizational goals to the Board of Directors. I also built and implemented key programs; analyzed program effectiveness; and controlled budget utilization. I implemented a successful fundraising strategy that resourced funds from corporate grants, foundations, major gift programs, events and individual donations. And I led all marketing, promotion, branding, website, social media efforts, and stakeholder communications. • Formed the organization and grew to $1.2M in gross donations annually.
• Traveled to 30+ international spine missions, often in a leadership role.
• Assessed 1400+ children in clinics and enabled 280+ complex spinal surgeries for children in Mexico, Colombia, and Poland all free-of-charge to the patients and their families.
• Created four new medical mission sites in Poznan, Poland; Otwock, Poland; Chihuahua, Mexico; and Monterrey, Mexico.
• Created and managed the GSO Annual Symposium in Warsaw, Poland (2014), Cali, Colombia (2015), Mexico City Mexico (2016, 2017), and Monterrey, Mexico (2018) including faculty, travel, logistics, event planning, communications, fundraising, and day-of tasks.
• Conceptualized and coordinated all fundraising events, including the GSO Annual Gala Fundraiser.
• Designed a comprehensive GSO Manual of Operations, outlining all policies and procedures for creating, running, and analyzing a spine medical outreach program.
