From Industrial design and branding to creating interactive media, the greatest thing I have learnt is how to adapt to changing commercial landscapes and apply design thinking to best fit the audience goals. In a world where technology is constantly pushing the boundaries of how a customer interacts with a brand, the one constant that has been at the forefront of the human endeavour has been experience. It’s this belief that drives my pursuit to meet our clients ambitious goals. At Sonder, we put the audience at the heart of all we produce, with our teams working together across disciplines to discover ways to delight the user. In fact, this approach lies at the core of the Sonder brand. Our ‘why’ is to brighten and enlighten someone’s day. How we do this is by having empathy and understanding for an audience and their needs which leads to the production of beautifully crafted experiences. Experience design isn’t a process or methodology. It’s not the UX journey through a website or app. It’s a belief system that plugs directly into the thoughts and desires of an audience. Continually observing the behaviours and context in which a brands audience exists is the challenge and the future is our horizon. The rules hadn't been created so we were testing the waters. There was some real innovative thinking and it was inspiring to see what could be done. It was fun, and brought me to where I am now.

Oct. 1996 - Nov. 1998The opportunity arouse to join a start up as Art Director on a PC platform game production based on genetics and natural selection called Gene Nation. My involvement with the business and production teams ultimately evolved into my position as CEO. This period was a fantastic learning curve that threw me into a world of in depth research that helped shape the game design and leap us into an innovative piece of gaming history way ahead of its time. The journey took myself and the team to the United States for intense pitching sessions with some of the largest publishers of that time including Microsoft, Westwood Studios, Electronic Arts, Virgin Interactive and GT Interactive. What a rush :)

We were on the front end of 3D gaming, developing the first games for the Playstation One.
