Sep. 2017Stockholm, SverigeIn my role as an Infrastructure Solutions Architect, I'm responsible for taking vital decisions for the solution. This includes choosing between build vs buy, selecting technology platforms, ensuring scalability, deploying solution components, and integrating with our existing systems. This process leads to defining the architecture, starting from a vision and evolving into concrete detailed architecture specifications. Being an architect requires balancing stakeholder needs to achieve desired outcomes.
Contrary to the misconception of architecture focusing solely on modeling and documentation, my primary focus is on providing technical leadership. Topics can range from technical design and implementation, to assessing the potential business impact of certain technology choices. Effective technical leadership demands a broad understanding of IT and bridging gaps between business, applications, and infrastructure domains. This doesn't mean that being a solution architect is a 'jack of all trades, master of none.' On the contrary, it's my deep technical knowledge that stakeholders rely upon to make informed decisions. One of my key abilities is applying this knowledge and experience to solve broader, project-wide issues, whether they're technical or organizational. On my most recent project I focused on creating a Zero Trust security architecture for IT automation.
I designed the architecture, including high and low-level designs, and worked closely with the project team to implement a secure, customized on-premise platform adhering to very high security standards. I also led the implementation, collaborating with colleagues to develop a tightly integrated permissions model, shaping tools into a unified platform. Additionally, I defined the Automation Security Framework and created Automation Guidelines for the platform. Throughout the project I took on multiple roles, and I currently serve as a Principal Solution Architect, driving technical developments further.
