Universidad EuropeaScientific Researcher at Interdisciplinary Research Group in Musculoskeletal Disorders
Oct. 2024Madrid, Communauté de Madrid, EspagneFocused on patient-centered care and emotional empowerment in chronic illnesses through interdisciplinary research. As a scientific researcher, my work centers on understanding and addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by chronic conditions such as colon cancer, breast cancer, COPD, stroke, diabetes, depression, and myocardial infarction. These conditions remain leading causes of global morbidity and mortality, as highlighted by the World Health Organization (WHO). Despite advances in preventive measures and treatment, their prevalence continues to rise, demanding innovative approaches to improve quality of life and empower patients. My research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses to explore the emotional burden of chronic diseases and its impact on patient well-being, treatment adherence, and recovery. This approach provides insights into: The psychological mechanisms underlying patient adaptation.
The influence of emotional experiences on long-term outcomes.
The role of existential challenges such as identity disruption and social alienation caused by chronic illness.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration, I aim to: Develop patient-centered clinical interventions tailored to emotional and psychological needs.
Address the stigma and dehumanization often associated with chronic illness, fostering dignity and agency for patients.
Advocate for holistic care that values autonomy and the broader human experience of patients and their families.
With a strong foundation in qualitative research and mixed-methods design, my work supports a paradigm shift in chronic illness care, emphasizing the importance of integrating medical, psychological, and social dimensions to empower patients in their journey.
