Hi there! I've been in the telecom world for over 25 years now, and it's been quite the journey of experiencing this industry grow from something exclusive to something everyone in Africa uses daily.
I've climbed the ladder, starting as an Engineer and moving through various leadership roles at big companies like Telkom, Vodacom, and Vodacom Mozambique. Back in 2012, I joined Cell C, where I've been part of the team shaping some really cool tech projects. I love working with others and helping my team grow, which has led me to my current role as the Chief Information and Technology Officer. Here, we’ve been all about pushing forward our technology strategy, making sure it fits with our innovative spirit at Cell C.
I'm all about learning, so I have three master's degrees—one in Business Administration, another in Philosophy of Corporate Strategy, and the last in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. This mix of tech know-how and real-world experience gives me a pretty unique view of where technology is heading, especially in Africa, with all the exciting changes of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Outside work, I enjoy the great outdoors, engaging in activities like mountain biking (MTB), cycling, running, trail running, and competing in triathlons. These pursuits keep me grounded and inspired.

My career started 38 years ago a the CSIR where I was involved with radio frequency technology research and development projects for the SAAF and other SADF departments.
I then worked at Avitronics (SAAB Grintek) on similar technology projects for various SADF departments and was awarded employee of the year for mY contributions.
My career in the cellular industry started in 1995 at MTN where I was entrusted with the planning and optimisation team lead for one of the most critical areas in RSA at that time, Sandton and Randburg.
I was recruited by Motorola to assist with their customer Vodacom, where I spearheaded a measurement based system to improve the quality of Vodacom's 2G network through automated frequency planning. I was then recruited by Motorola to train their teams in other countries such as the UK, Turkey, Egypt, etc. in the use of the system.
I was subsequently recruited by Siemens (NSN, Nokia) to develop a similar system for their radio equipment at the level of Divisional Manager for Planning and Optimisation.
I joined Cell C in 2012 as Executive for Technology Strategy initially and was promoted to Executive Head: Network Engineering 4 months later. I remained in the engineering side of the business and was instrumental in delivering Cell C's first MOCN (multi operator core network) arrangement with one of our network partners which would see Cell ultimately completely deactivating its own radio access network to where we are today having two MOCN partners on both of the best networks in South Africa.
