I am currently Head of Operations for sooka – Astro’s latest OTT video platform – whereby I am involved in the day-to-day operations, product development and business development. I am also involved in developing multiple monetisation channels either through in-app opportunities or via partnership and collaborations. I work closely with:
- Product/ Technology team to understand the new enhancement rollout and also resolve customer issues with customer support

Apr. 2008 - Sep. 2016Project led on business joint ventures and M&As, targeting highly valuable digital media assets and strong intellectual properties/ content related assets. Responsibilities include (i) develop business case and model; (ii) contract negotiations of investment contracts; (iii) develop investment structures; (iv) manage legal and financial due diligence processes.
Operationally, worked with the CEOs/ COOs/ CFOs of the investment companies in formulating business strategies and financial models. (1) Business development activities to seek media partners to jointly develop and produce new TV/ film content leveraging from the Shaw Library. With the HK team, mined the Shaw Library to select suitable titles for remake opportunities. This led to joint development production contracts entered with reputable media players like The Weinstein Company, Edko Studios and Tencent (腾讯). Also participated in creative review of developed scripts/ story outline and provided input - both global and Chinese titles. (2) Board member at Adrep China and involved in business expansions to secure airtime rights in different cities/ provincial radio stations in China, inter-alia Guangzhou, Urumqi, Nanjing and Xi’An. (3) Project led the due diligence and negotiated commercial terms for the merger of Celestial Tiger Entertainment and created a USD$60 million regional content aggregation business for the Asia Pacific region.
Also participated in detailed review and analyses of business plans for the new channels and OTT offerings.
(4) Commercial negotiations and set up of a US$80 million joint venture in Dubai with Saudi Telecom in content aggregation and distribution business in the Middle East and North Africa. (5) Participated in the development committee at ideate Media Sdn Bhd to deliberate on the various development and production projects from story outline, deal structure, development monies and risk management.

(5) Fund raising and book-building exercise for a REIT worth RM215 million (US$67 million) for the acquisition of retail properties
(6) Asset securitisation of a shopping mall worth approximately RM500 million (US$156 million)
