Adjunct Professor
University of Alaska SoutheastAdjunct Professor
Jan. 2020Sitka, Alaska, United StatesI taught an in person English 200 level class in Sitka for winter 2020 semester and adjusted class to on-line modality in April 2020 related to Covid-19 pandemic. I also taught on-line English 200 level for 30 students initial enrollment for entire winter 2020 semester. I facilitated class discussion, reading, paper writing and revisions, critical literary thought processes, social justice awareness and promoted diverse literature throughout class both in discussion and syllabi requirements/assignments. The class was multi-media including audio, visuals, videos and internet involvements. Student writing greatly improved throughout semester as did their reading comprehension and discussion skills. The following semester I planned to teach English again and create my own syllabi for a course, but course sizes decreased related to pandemic as did adjunct salary and I could not commit to the time of teaching for a significantly pro-rated salary, but I hope to contribute in higher education again soon.

Staff Registered Nurse
Bartlett Regional HospitalStaff Registered Nurse
May. 2019 - Feb. 2024Juneau, Alaska, United StatesI am a registered nurse for Bartlett's Women's and Children's unit. This is a 100 bed small community hospital. So, I've also provided care as needed throughout the hospital, screening visitors and patients at start of pandemic, sitting with suicidal and other mental health clients, assisting in ICU, Med/Surg and ER. My home unit is Women's and Children's where I provide perinatal care to pregnant people, triage clients, provide intrapartum care, birth care, resucitation as needed, pre-op and post-op care, coordinate care between services, lactation support, post-partum care and surgical circulation as needed. I also fill in as charge here although rarely as I am a part-time employee. I bring experience to a unit largely staffed by nurses with five or less years of experience in perinatal nursing and it's a pleasure to work with predominantly healthy uncomplicated births!

Registered Nurse
Cross Country TravCorpsRegistered Nurse
Apr. 2011 - Jul. 2021Travel nursing has allowed me to see the country, and understand the nuances of birthing norms and possibilities. I am responsible when working contracts to arrive in a new city or location, coordinate all personal needs rapidly (housing, trasportation etc), jump into hospital orientation for a maximum time of two weeks total and then be competent to practice safely and effectively on my own. I bring my expertise, can-do attitude and have a great time getting to know new teams, supporting them and mentoring newer staff; nurses, medical students and residents while working in various locations. Often locations in need of travel nurses have a higher volume of newer, less experienced nursing staff. So it is a rewarding and challenging experience. I bring with my dedication to trauma awareness in birth, support of physiological birth for healthier and lower intervention births with fewer complications. I am skilled at providing medical interventions as needed for safety of pregnant person and child and navigating care with collaboration among entire team; provider, RN, support staff, other care departments such as social services/lab/pharmacy etc. I have worked 10 contracts with Cross Country Travcorps in total to date and enjoy the broad range of contract options and care environment options they provide.
