Responsibilities of the role are summarised as follows: Maintaining Academic Standards • Ensure that the academic standards of a programme align with national expectations and qualification frameworks (e.g. QAA benchmarks, FHEQ levels). • Confirm that students’ achievements are consistent with those at the same level in other UK institutions. • Assess whether learning outcomes are appropriately defined and rigorously assessed. Assessment Oversight • Review a representative sample of student work across modules and assessment types. • Confirm that assessment methods are appropriate, clearly communicated, and fairly applied. • Ensure consistency and transparency in the marking and moderation process. • Participate in or observe examination boards where final grades and awards are confirmed.
