Jan. 2006 - Dec. 2011For our first show in 2010 I created an 8ft by 8ft piece called "Quilting," out of over 300 4x6 prints of all original sketches and photographs. I spent four days weaving them together into a planned internal structure of rows and columns and a star like skeleton based on the weight and subject matter of each small piece. A comment on social networks, artistic mediums, growth, cycles, and a journal of sorts of for me between 2006 and the moment the piece was finished, hours before the gallery opened. The finale for my web series "Friends of a Thing Called Water" was also displayed against a wall on a loop for the show's duration. Sep. 2010 - Sep. 2010I was the In-House Manager for the Winningstad Theater in downtown Portland for the Time Based Art (TBA) festival last September. One of the things I loved about the job was it had the fast-pace decision making of one of my restaurant jobs. I was in charge of a team of passionate volunteers who took tickets and managed crowd control. Every night there was a new set of volunteers I got to know and teach them the ropes. I loved the responsibility of escorting Patron members to their various advantages as special ticket holders, and the media photographers to good locations for capturing the performances. And as the curtain came up an the show began I had the option of watching the performances for free! The works I saw greatly inspired me and my own creative work.
