Maintains and configures applications, software, and utilities required for SCADA applications. Provides on-call support to internal customers. Work closely with Senior Field Automation Specialist to ensure accurate and timely data. Maximize use of equipment and ensure reliability of information, hardware, and human resources. Studies existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develop new systems to improve production and/or work flow. Champions process improvement opportunities within scope of job. Develop HMI screens as appropriate using software screen designers. Maintain relationship with all vendors and third party providers. Setup and configure OPC server and establish communication with field devices. Participates in special projects, studies, and evaluations as requested. Other duties as assigned. Key Results:
• Analyze the current SCADA platform and evaluate new technologies, produce mock-ups. Created specification document to summarize findings and go-forward implementation plan.
• Create onsite SCADA system using GE iFix for an AMINE gas plant. Backhaul data back to corporate office via satellite uplink.
• Initiated program to secure cellular data modems via private VPN running over a private MPLS backbone.
• Create company-wide SCADA system to gather, remote monitor and control, provide call-outs to field technicians using Iconics Genesis64.
• Integrate existing systems that utilize a SQL backend into the Iconics Genesis64 platform to provide a single point of information resource for remote oil and gas well sites.
• Implemented a fully redundant and co-located SCADA (Iconics Genesis64) and OPC (Kepware) system. Provides redundant user interface, data collection, historian and call-out service.
