N2Growth Africa, previously The Landelahni GroupMarketing Communications Manager
Mar. 2001 - Dec. 2013South AfricaThe Backstory My career with the Amrop Landelahni Group laid the groundwork for my transition into Innovation & Creativity. I landed my first role back in 2001 thanks to a cleverly crafted personal advertisement that staked my claim that I was a safer bet than a Durex condom. I guess standing out of the crowd has always been synonymous with my way of thinking and doing – needless to say, I landed the job and subsequently spent the next 10 years re-inventing my role, pivoting my job description, and aligning my core skill set (marketing, creativity, business model innovation & purpose projects) as the organisation evolved. One of the most pivotal moments of my career which put the writing on the wall (without me knowing that at the time) was when I returned from an inspirational trip to India and approached my CEO with a pivoted job description and title of “Creative Capital Consultant” – you see back then Innovation Managers were not a thing (at least not in our territory). I bagged the role which was a hybrid of brand marketing, communications, and corporate social responsibility and it included a part-time secondment to The Trevor Huddleston Foundation as their Marketing & Design Consultant. The reason for sharing this backstory is to demonstrate that: 1. I am a Conscious Creative (I am deliberate in the way that I think and make a conscious effort to push the boundaries of creative thinking with myself and my clients). 2. I was born to Innovate and so are You! (With a process, and new ways of thinking & the conviction that you can – You too will become the Innovation Leader that You always wanted to be!) P.S. Thank You, Sandra Burmeister, Amrop Landelahni Board, and my former colleagues for giving me the space to harness my Creative Potential – which lead me to my Next Bold Move in Innovation Management & Creative Culture Building as part of the Global think team.
