Sep. 2019 - Dec. 2020Flushing, NYJAY JAXON: 40 Years Of Fashion Design Brilliance | Past, Present, Future exhibition chronologically delves into the designer’s life and career spanning 40 years. Jaxon’s historical contributions are displayed on 10 Acrylic panels, 17 Canvases, 32 Written Content Canvases, 8 Video recorded Portfolio Interviews, a record player belting Jaxon's favorite song, with ephemeral materials, and garments from my fashion designer archive. What’s more this exhibition not only provides visual content it also features an audio component to allow for the audio and visual learners to experience Jaxon’s design process. I chose to utilize photographs from the Queens Historical Society’s archive to give the viewer a sense of how the world appeared through the eyes of a young Jay Jaxon and his parents from the early 1900s-1998 in Queens, New York. This exhibition not only preserves and protects the legacy of Jay Jaxon it also preserves and highlights the works of former Models, Scholars, Activists, Historians, Fashion Consultants, and Emerging Designers while showing them experiencing the original portfolio of Jaxon. The industry professionals featured in the Exhibition Portfolio Anthology Docuseries divided into three categories “Exalting The Past”, “Burgeoning The Present”, & “Vanguarding The Future.”
