Jan. 1989 - Mar. 1997Managed all systems activities at the Information and Privacy Commission, including on-going budget target and tracking responsibilities, development of department plans and procedures, selection and purchase of appropriate hardware, software and services, network management and capacity planning, security and disaster preparedness, software development priorities and plans, and new products and applications research Directed a two person systems team and outside consultants/contractors as required Lead the development of the IPC Internet presence, requiring the development of WWW and FTP sites, the installation of servers and a firewall and the selection of appropriate software; ongoing maintenance of the firewall, Web and FTP servers Initiated and co-ordinated the development of the Systems Strategic Planning process, the Systems Contingency plan and the Information Resource Management Plan Administered a 100+ node LAN and various servers under Netware, NT and UNIX, including installation, configuration, upgrade and end-user management in a high availability environment Outsourced the Commission’s maintenance and major system hardware upgrade activities Consulted within the Commission on technology issues and privacy implications
