The product development role is to lead the product development team within Enstra mill in identifying and implementing new product development ideas and proposals to ensure the long term profitability of the mill while satisfying our customers’ ongoing and evolving needs. Major responsibilities included: • Responsibility for the Adherence to the standards and documentation for the process engineering discipline for the entire Paper mill. • Keep Mill trial procedure relevant and up to date. • Managing the process engineering section for the Paper mill. • Responsible for the SAP MOC system for the Paper Mill and the SAP Trial Procedure for the entire Mill (all areas and disciplines). • I am responsible for the product development execution and direction taken by this mill, and the implementation of the necessary strategies, trials, motivations, project management etc. required to achieve the same. I am the liaison with the Sappi Fine Papers South Africa Marketing team and the Sappi Technology Centre team. • I have EITs and the Product Development Engineer and the Technical Liaison Officer reporting to me. • I am responsible for the quality of plant specific Process Engineers‘ work and their adherence to the mill Process Engineering and SAP procedures. • I stand in for the Technical Manager during his/her absence and then assume responsibility for the ISO systems in the plant and the environmental and technical disciplines. • I am responsible for the relevant budgets and cost management.
