Jan. 2008 - Jan. 2010El SalvadorI was the main creator and driving force behind “Papeles de Arqueología” (Archaeological Papers) the first archaeological digital and visual library in El Salvador, sponsored by Fundación Clic (Clic Foundation). This web site was hosting more than 50 scholarly articles from American, Japanese and Salvadorian contributors. The Fundación Clic is an institution dedicated to the development of technology in communication, aimed at producing and preserving cultural material in a digital format. Technical assistants, computer engineers, graphic designers and proofreaders have assisted this ongoing project, under my leadership.

This classification includes the recognition of a vast typology of pottery and other artifacts from Central America. The creation of an optional model for the registration of a private collection was a direct outcome of this project.

A specialized library for the Office was created for the first time. The library has provide students and researchers with access to unpublished technical reports, donated books and other resources. Copies of all reports are also handed out to main libraries in the country. By effectively managing this project, I was able to develop an office space for research, a well-equipped laboratory, and an area for washing and labeling archaeological material, an area for projections, and much more.

The production of this document was a three-year process, that required extensive meetings with colleagues, specialists, specialized lawyers and paperwork. After two and a half years, it was finally ready to be presented as a proposal to the main authorities of CONCULTURA (National Council of Culture and Arts).This entity manages all cultural matters in El Salvador, and now known as Secretaría de la Cultura.. The proposal was finally approved in October 2006 and published in 2007. These guidelines have became a guide for all researchers and those interested in managing their investigations and interventions on archaeological sites in El Salvador.

This Pre-Hispanic building is one of the largest, most monumental and representative archaeological site in the country, a symbol of national identity. This structure is 7 metres high, 30 metres in length, and 30 metres wide, exposing a complex system of construction, composed of mortar, stucco and architectural ornamentation.

The purpose was to achieve a higher level of action and freedom of management. The office was established according to my proposal and work. The administration of archaeology as a Office had disappeared as part of the institutional dismemberment that took place during the time of the Civil War in El Salvador. The oldest account of a department of this nature goes back to 1928, ceasing to exist in the 1980s.

Each student who participated was given a certificate. A group of international archaeologist collaborated to present the various workshops. Some of the students who participated were hired to work in the Archeological Department staff.

A classification of an extensive variety of artifacts, porcelain and ceramic fragments was made. Part of the findings included more than 1,300 7mm unused ammunition cartridges, and 8 Oviedo war rifles dating back to the early 20th Century.
