Jan. 2024Reporting to the Midwifery Matron, responsibilities include leading the maternity unit's daily operations while overseeing unit acuity, allocating staff, and providing clinical support to all team members. Supervise a team of ~10 midwives per shift across the Central Delivery Suite, Triage unit, and Antenatal/Postnatal ward while delivering comprehensive care and support to women and families throughout their maternity journey. Manage a unit with 2300 annual births (~190/month) while handling 5-10 delivery patients, 18 ward patients, and up to 20 triage patients daily. Major Achievements: · Transitioned successfully from patient-focused role to overseeing the entire maternity unit while managing staff and resources. · Improved the patient experience through dynamic task prioritization and resource allocation. · Enhanced staff efficiency and productivity by implementing coaching techniques involving intuitive questioning and management to challenge staff to recognise their own knowledge and knowledge gaps, in turn building confidence to provide a high standard of care. · Received positive feedback for adapting effectively to increased responsibilities and providing approachable, supportive leadership.
