Lend LeaseDesign Manager
Oct. 2014 - Jul. 2017Chicago, IllinoisI work on the multi-site side of the Chicago office doing everything from design management to BIM modeling to project bidding utilizing both my architecture degree and business minor. I have worked on large scale remodels of national brands such as Chase Bank, Thorntons Gas Station, Burger King, and KFC. The largest of the rebranding portfolios being KFC, with us working to accomplish a turnkey solution for 3,000 stores from scoping to design, estimating, and bidding to construction complete in 3.5 years. For each project I worked directly with clients, architects, signage and decor companies, as well as our project managers to ensure that current brand standards were met for each project while being code compliant. For Burger King, I managed the entire national portfolio of work for a franchisee with 300 locations. As KFC was our largest project, I was in charge of the midwest region. For each project I was expected to manage project design completion deadlines from 5 architectecture firms, 2 decor companies, and 2 signage companies as well as assist our project managers in the field with any problems that would arise by collaborating with each field expert to find the best cost effective solution that met brand standards. The role was client facing when we needed approval to move forward with designs. Being knowledgeable about brand standards and code compliance, as well as bringing a personable attitude to the table were key aspects in dealing with clients on a daily basis to ensure all questions were answered and projects were able to keep their initial completion timeline. As the KFC program was the largest of its kind, working to find innovative ways to track, report, and present data to both corporate and franchisee became instrumental in the success of the program. Working as a team to create tracking tools via excel and Prolog as well as be adaptable to constant change were also keys to overall success and development of the program.
