I held this role during a period of tightening balance sheet capacity and drove a process to support market announcements of $1bn p.a. capex savings. During my tenure I also oversaw significant change in our approach to group valuation approach to allow more dynamic evaluation of portfolio options and scenarios.

Sep. 2018 - Jun. 2022Lima, PeruManagement of the country finance function on a ~4 year, $5.5bn capital project. My role encompassed the full scope of the country finance function, including accounting, internal controls, compliance (including anti-corruption), budgeting and performance management. During my time in Peru I built the local finance capability from a small country office to a team that was fit for purpose for a major operating business in Anglo American, including people, systems and processes - against the backdrop of the sensitive pandemic context in Peru which created major disruption to the project.
In addition to leading the function and supporting project delivery, my role involved significant collaboration with our JV partner, Mitsubishi, including as Chair of the local Finance and Audit Committee, and as alternate director on the AA Quellaveco Board.
