This is a critical and high profile programme within Optus that is allowing me to broaden my experience into the broadband IP world from my mobile background.

Jan. 2006 - Dec. 2008I Lead the technical operations of Virgin Mobile Australia. I was responsible for the operational performance of all systems, the systems architecture and implementation of new product and system change. Controlled billing operations and the operational data warehouse and business intelligence functions centrally for the business. I was tasked primarily with the integration of the business back end into Optus systems and evolving the MVNO business model into a more strategic and re-usable service provider business model. During this period Virgin Mobile led with the rollout of Wireless Broadband over HSPA with a unique home phone and internet package that entailed setting up a virtual ISP with a third party provider outside of Optus. There were numerous technical challenges across the 3G and IP networks that I worked closely with Optus technical expertise in my former division to resolve. This role culminated in the close down of the Virgin pre-paid platform and the migration of services to the Optus IN whilst retaining separate OSS/BSS.
Simplus Pty LtdCEO
Mar. 2003 - Jan. 2006I was given the superb challenge of running an independant mobile service provider that re-sold the Optus network in Australia. This business was purchased during the tech wreck by Optus from RSL Com in order to portect the wholesale revenues from it's mobile base. I transformed the operational and financial performance of this business and re-branded it as SIMplus. Using third tier distribution to service ethnic niche markets in Australia and outbound call centres, SIMplus became the most profitable SP of its time in the Australian market, recouping the Optus investment in three years and growing by 25% it's wholesale contribution to the Optus bottom line. This business was merged with Virgin Mobile in January 2006 to consolidate the Optus position and enable optus to expand upon the significant brand opportunity afforded by Virgin. I oversaw the operational merger of the two businesses from a new role in Virgin.

Jun. 1998 - Mar. 2003I joined Optus on secondment from C&W Mobile in 1998 as Technical Director controlling the engineering design, rollout and performance of the Optus 3GSM network. My role reportedto the Network CTO and the MD of the newly established Mobile division and I was a founder member of the mobile management team. I transformed the network architecture, improved dropped call performance to equal the best in market in all urban areas, developed the service core of the network and changed out the switched network core ready for 3G rollout. During this time my portfolio was expanded to include all mobile IT systems including billing and customer service systems and all product development projects in mobile. I spent 6 months as acting MD of the mobile business in the run up to the SingTel aquisition of Optus and prior to the secondment of Allen Lew to the role.
