Apr. 2022 - Oct. 2024Wellington, Wellington Region, New ZealandAs a Lead Product Designers, I help define, design and deliver seamless product experiences at a cross functional level at Xero. I work on specific design tasks, as well as assisting others through design collaboration, feedback and mentorship. A Lead Product Designer contribute to the design vision and direction, working with the Design Principal and key relationships Leadership Team. Design practice and thinking Partner with the Product Design Manager and Principal Designer to lead projects and mentor designers. Help drive quality of execution to deliver meaningful experiences.
• Promote the value of design and collaborative practice;
• Conduct desk research including competitor analysis, design trends and 'best of' examples;
• Analyse relevant considerations such as research insights, product strategy and roadmaps, technical environment and constraints;
• Define and articulate ‘the problem’ – challenge assumptions and 'pre-set' thinking around solutions, agreeing the purpose, principles and vision;
• Challenge current solutions, by exploring ideal future concepts and identifying new interaction solutions and patterns that meet customer needs in a better way;
• Collaborate with other designers to test ideas, share challenges, mentor others in their work, provide feedback and build quality in the practice. Design research and testing Partner closely with Design Research team to identify research opportunities, plan and undertake research and testing.
• Undertake synthesis of research data, drawing out and articulation of insights;
• Conduct user testing in conjunction with the Design Research team;
• Influence, challenge and support designers to deliver high quality product experiences;
• Work with the Product Design Director to contribute towards strategic product initiatives;
• Facilitate cross functional team workshops to bring everyone together at key points in the process and around key decisions.
