As a Housing Resource Coordinator, I coordinated supportive transitions to rental units for 65 individual women & families ready to exit the shelter with an orientation of lient-centered project management, including managing shifting priorities around client needs and administrative deadlines. Working within the federal HUD guidlines, I identified affordable, safe & healthy apartments, liasioned with landlords, and assisted in lining up all the aspects of a successful move. For the caseload of 90 women & families existing in the housing program, while coordinating the department independently, I provided targeted case management, including landlord communications, assistance in K-12 enrollment, identifying community engagement/education opportunities, and accessing legal services. I onboarded five new hires and implemented organizational development including collaborative team drives and online record system transition. I also revised the CLEAR, Jr. curriculum to engage dynamic, age-appropriate activities for young elementary to high school students, including integrating multicultural storytelling and roleplay to highlight the human cost of climate change. My work was based at Ponitz Career Technology Center providing high-level, individualized support and advocacy for resettled refugee high school students, as well as working a part of a small team building an comprehensive ELL program at Ponitz for the 2017-2018 SY, including high-level student support and advocacy, teacher support, and school-based research toward "Welcoming" models. In addition, an integral part to creating a "welcoming school" was implementing student-driven leadership opportunities. As the lead facilitator of the "Welcoming Project", a student-driven participatory action research group that sought to make Ponitz less alienating by identifying the needs of their peers, the student group advocated for the implementation of a Restorative Justice program at Ponitz. My role at Ponitz, particularly the Welcoming Project, served as my research for my undergraduate thesis, "Bridging Worlds: Imagining Schools as Public Homeplaces."
