Great Rocks Digital MarketingSocial Media Manager
Mar. 2019High Peak, England, United KingdomSince 2019, I’ve been working freelance delivering digital marketing support, masterclasses, audits, and one-to-one strategy sessions for a wide range of clients, from rural start-ups to established creative organisations. I specialise in making digital marketing accessible, effective, and human. During the pandemic, I offered my services free to small rural businesses, helping them get online, build basic websites, and start generating leads through social media. I supported veteran-owned start-ups, volunteered with the Thomas Theyer Foundation (supporting young people with complex needs), and helped many more local businesses find confidence online. In June 2020, I was brought in to manage the social media for a prestigious genre film festival. Their future was uncertain due to lockdowns, but with a complete digital strategy, including content creation, analytics, and multi-platform management, I helped grow their reach by over 120%. They went on to run one major virtual festival and four successful mini-events. Alongside Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, I also managed their YouTube TV channel and episodic series. In November 2020, I co-led a networking and content creation event with three photographers, supporting local businesses in improving their visual storytelling and social media confidence. More recently, I took on and mentored a trainee social media manager, who’s now thriving with their own clients. I’ve continued to grow my skills with training in SEO, Google Analytics, website optimisation, AI tools, Canva, and email marketing. I recently completed a web development course to better support clients with practical improvements to their websites. I’ve also designed digital marketing courses and guides tailored to people facing barriers to work, such as neurodivergent individuals, people with chronic illness, parents returning to work, and small business owners, making online marketing feel achievable and less overwhelming.
