MeyerVice President Finance & Accounting
Apr. 2021 - Jan. 2025Vallejo, California, United StatesAt Meyer Corporation, I functioned as Vice President of Accounting and Finance to oversee a department of 21 people for a privately-held cookware business. It is worth mentioning that I identified roadblocks during the month-end process to improve closing time by three full days. I was assigned the task of leading multiple employees, including a senior director, three senior accountants, three accounts payable, six accounts receivable, and chargeback collectors, import/export documentation/management, and financial reporting. My duties included reducing operational costs and developing technology usage, utilizing and forecasting IBM Workspace Analytics while implementing month-end software to minimize closing times and headcount. I was also responsible for directing constant transformation for systems to enable inter-systems communications, replace manual data entry, and optimize operating systems, such as ERP, budgeting, forecasting, and payroll. Below listed are some of my achievements within this role:
• Administered a $400M construction business under Blue Mountain Construction to build homes and facilitate living complexes.
• Nominated to become a member of the Board of Directors committee as Treasurer in September 2021.
• Conducted review of a current health insurance broker and enhanced abilities to identify savings of nearly $5M within the next 3 years by implementing a self-insured medical plan, along with coordinating cross-functionally with HR and broker.
• Oversaw a real estate portfolio of over $85M, including rental properties and commercial Real Estate, resulting in identifying a tenant underpaying Market rate by $250K per year.
• Inherited non-health insurance-related programs for general liability, EPLI, D&O, Workers' Comp, Recall, and Product liability, along with successfully recognizing ways of reducing premiums by $300K on annual basis and joined a captive group for additional savings.
