Facilitate plan selection based on the needs of the individual/family seeking coverage. Assess qualifications for government financial assistance in the form of advanced premium tax credits (APTC) and cost-sharing reductions (CSR) to be applied to private Qualified Health Plans (QHPs) and/or public health insurance, Medicaid (MA) or Maryland Children's Health Program (MCHP). Provide on-going support to clients by
- Assisting in making health insurance premium payments, scheduling doctor’s appointments, requesting in-network directories, selecting a Managed Care Organization (MCO) with Medicaid, un-enrolling consumers from last year’s plans, etc.
- Problem-solving, escalating through appropriate channels, and resolving challenging cases as a liaison between the client, Maryland Health Connection, and health insurance providers i.e. Carefirst BCBS, Medicaid, Kaiser Permanente, etc. Conduct education and outreach to uninsured community members. Played a key role in completing over 5,000 consumer applications for the Kaiser Permanente Community Health Access Program (CHAP). Aid individuals in enrolling in various public benefits, including but not limited to health insurance, voter registration, driver’s licensing, and Deferred Action Childhood Arrival (DACA) consideration. Orient individuals on becoming citizens and work with citizenship team to facilitate the application process.
