I worked with small to medium sized organizations in the US and some of the poorest parts of India. Through the introduction of a friend of 25-years, I met Varghese, a surgeon from Bangalore. He wanted to aquire failing religious-based hospitals and needed someone to help him design and implement an operations model in order to make these hospitals viable. We partnered on the project [4B Healthcare] and began in the northern city of Guwahati. I created and implemented an operations model for Satribari Hospital. Simply, the model streamlined operations by seeing a patient's care, from admission to discharge, as a single process. I'm pleased to say that it worked. We reduced operating costs by ~30% and the process was replicated at two other hospitals in India. Additionally, I restructured operations and reduced top-line costs by 8% for a $1.4M non-profit in Orange County, California.
