Conducting needs assessments to identify learning gaps and determine appropriate instructional strategies.
Analyzing target audiences and learning environments.
Curriculum Development:
Designing and developing instructional materials, including online courses, training manuals, and multimedia content.
Applying instructional design theories and models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to create effective learning experiences.
Developing learning objectives and assessment strategies.
Content Creation:
Creating engaging and interactive learning activities, such as simulations, quizzes, and case studies.
Utilizing multimedia tools and software to develop visually appealing and accessible content.
Writing clear and concise instructional text.
Collaboration:
Collaborating with SMEs, trainers, and other stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and effectiveness.
Providing guidance and support to instructors and learners.
Evaluation and Improvement:
Evaluating the effectiveness of learning solutions and making recommendations for improvement.
Staying up-to-date on current trends and best practices in instructional design.
Learning Management System (LMS) Management:
Often times Instructional Designers will manage content within a company's LMS.
Required Skills and Qualifications: Knowledge of Instructional Design Principles:
Understanding of learning theories and instructional design models.
Ability to apply adult learning principles.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in instructional design software (e.g., Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate).
Experience with LMS platforms (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle).
Familiarity with multimedia development tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Project Management Skills:
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
