Sep. 2005 - Dec. 2008Irving, TXI worked as an administrator for a branch of a nationwide staffing agency specializing in the aviation industry, both commercial and military. The branch I worked for hired approximately 60 contract employees each month. My duties included the processing of the new hire paperwork, to include Form I9, tax forms, policies and procedures, and client-specific documentation. I scheduled the drug screenings, both Non-DOT and DOT and ensured compliance with all of the FAA and DOT regulations those entail. I conducted and monitored the background checks for all new contract hires, and was responsible for making hiring decisions based on those reports. I maintained detailed files and records for each new employee. I performed functions to ensure the office's compliance with regard to Department of Homeland Security guidelines, Department of Labor Laws, as well as client-specific requirements. I was responsible for responding to State inquiries regarding unemployment claims filed by contractors, to include salary and employment verifications, documentation research, and attending hearings conducted by the State to protest claims. I provided contractor service by answering employees’ questions with regard to payroll, benefits, vacation requests, employment verification, etc. I collected and prepared written support for invoicing the branch’s international clients. I also performed general office maintenance functions, such as supply orders, social events, and the switchboard. I was often called upon to assist other branches with the training of new administrative personnel. I was cross-trained with the Payroll Administrator, and was the back-up for this function. I processed payroll several times for approximately 350 employees.
