My role has been the driving force behind a variety of key initiatives such as the role-out of the SSC organization, as well as the implementation of key productivity tools such as COUPA, CONCUR, Blackline and a variety of new Route-to-Consumer roll-outs across the European region, as well as the integration of new acquisitions into Brown-Forman. Key responsibilities include managing the operations of the European accounting department, mentoring, coaching and leading an accounting team that spans across Europe, Russia/CIS and ensuring that the accounting team are aligned and partnered with the business and reporting needs as required from the President of Europe, VP Finance Europe and the European Leadership team. I am also responsible for ensuring tax and audit compliance, understanding tax laws and compliance reporting requirements across the region, especially those that impact our business model and route-to-market decisions, and for establishing and maintaining systems and internal controls which verify the integrity of company's policies, processes and data. I also coordinate accounting activities, account changes, reporting and other appropriate activities with the U.S. corporate accounting department.

I returned to the Netherlands as I was attracted by this fast growing business which required someone who could think long-term, build the core financial processes from the ground up and predict potential pit-falls as the company developed new product offerings and expanded abroad, particularly the U.S. Being a start-up, cash management, generating organic growth through constant revenue streams and securing third-party investment were three of the biggest areas that required constant focus and attention. Implemented much needed execute management reporting, departmental budgets and regular review of the KPI’s with the key business stakeholders. We used this information to translate strategy into financial and operational targets in cooperation with the CFO and COO. We structured and optimised cash flow management, focusing on the best use of outside investors cash for continued organic growth of the business, coupled with maintaining revenue streams from royalties, licence agreements and subsidies from both the EU and Dutch government. Partnered with the R&D team to identify and make business cases for new markets/research projects and position those to the Board for further investment. Highlighted and supported the automation of various business processes wherever possible to leverage efficiencies of scale for a small but ever-growing company.

I was also involved with the testing & implementation of PeopleSoft Financials 7.5 & 8.0 for the SSC.
