Nov. 2024A couple of years back I launched my own business and as part of that process had to become a kind of 'jack of all trades' - one of my favourite roles by far has become 'Chief Marketing Officer' 🤣 An interesting and very unexpected by-product is I love doing design work on Canva. I know from speaking to many people in a similar position to me, i.e. sole-traders or small businesses that on top of trying to get the business in and deliver the product/service that doing this type of thing is not only time-consuming but can feel a little overwhelming. That's where I could come in!!!!!! May. 2023I'm on a mission with my wonderful trans-wife Sophie Wood to transform workplace cultures into vibrant hubs where everyone thrives. 🤔 Why aren’t all company cultures like this already? We believe that:- 1) The focus on minoritised groups (we do recognise this is awesome work) often ends up excluding the majority of people. The irony is that this is contradictory to the very essence of inclusion. 2) 'Culture is defined by the worst behavior tolerated' – John Amaechi. So your experience is only ever as good as the quality of your local management and how they shape the culture around you. This needs more focus. So it’s time for a fresh perspective and we advocate that:- A) You should start with the end in mind i.e. ‘belonging’ and focus, not so much on our differences but, on what makes us human and unites us. B) We need to be driving change from the middle out through first line and middle management and stop relying on top leadership platitudes and deceptive social media claims about a culture that is an aspiration rather than the lived experience of your people. 🤔 What do we offer? Lots, but that’s not helpful at all – so here’s 3 key areas: RAISING AWARENESS – Talks highlighting how being different and feeling like you don’t belong impacts your personal life and how you perform at work. We weave in our personal lived experience of navigating Sophie's gender transition to bring those feelings to life. MEMORABLE MANAGER – We work with managers to raise their self-awareness and develop their understanding of the impact they have on the experience of others at work. This enables them to nurture an inclusive team culture where people can confidently contribute to team success. MENTAL HEALTH - We deliver a range of mental health sessions designed by MHFA England®. These give people the skills, knowledge and confidence to have the important conversations that will support individuals, elevate the people experience and team performance.
