Bellevue School DistrictFrench Teacher (0.4 FTE)🗼Badminton Team Coach 🏸@ International School & Substitute Teacher
Sep. 2024 - Dec. 2024After 49 days of teaching, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of teacher support I encountered at Bellevue School District and resigned from this position for personal reasons. International School is #2 of Washington State in the 2024 US News ranking of HS and a 6-12 grade choice public school in the Bellevue School District. All students at IS study French for all 7 years and have opportunities to develop their skills through reading, writing, speaking, and listening opportunities. I guided and inspired 54 ninth-grade students during 2 periods (1 & 2) of French 3 to develop competencies to communicate effectively, interact with cultural competence, and participate in multilingual communities at home and around the world, according to the World Languages K-12 Learning Standards. Specifically, I… ● Planed, created, and designed lesson plans in collaboration with the other French 3 teacher at IS and with Bellevue College staff to offer dual credits to my students. ● Prepared lessons by speaking at least 95% of the time in French to my students, using songs, cultural videos, spoken questions, and answers as a form of comprehensible input, and engaging students in TPR. ● Maintained a Teams group and a OneNote for each class period to share class information with students. ● Managed classroom and students' behavior per school policy by establishing rules, routines, and classroom procedures and enforcing them accordingly. ● Tutored students before and after class. ● Participated in a PLC and PDs. ● Conferred with parents or guardians regularly and interacted with other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems. ● Used computers, audiovisual aids, and carefully selected cultural materials to supplement my lessons. ● Coached the badminton team, which was made up of 50+ middle schoolers, to play competitively by training them twice a week with a team of 10 high school assistant coaches I trained.
