May. 2019 - Jul. 2024County Galway, Ireland“Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine” – when you bring people together, you can achieve great things – has long been the mantra of Kenny Deery, a seasoned collaborator and relationship-builder. Throughout his working life, and in varied voluntary roles in his native Achill, Kenny has consistently built partnerships. Partnerships that have delivered, partnerships that have lasted. Progressive, positive and always open to new ideas, Kenny believes in pushing boundaries, not being limited by them. With a strong background in banking, finance and tourism, allied with his Corporate MBA and project management experience, Kenny was appointed CEO of Galway Chamber in July 2019. He has ambitious plans to further strengthen Galway city and county as proven locations in which to live and work. Ever-eager to broaden the circle of partnership, he would love to hear from you and can be contacted at kenny@galwaychamber.com.

AIBRegional Market Manager (Mayo/Galway)
Jan. 2017 - Jul. 2019County Galway, IrelandI am Manager of the AIB Galway and Mayo Local Market Engagement Team. I work with my local market colleagues to enhance AIB's profile in the community and make banking more accessible for SME's and personal customers. Through this role we have developed the concept of AIB workplace banking - a "pop-up" banking concept on location using AIB's leading edge technology. I work to best practice, driving sales and achieving the highest standards of customer service with flair. I manage the AIB sponsorship and relationship with Portershed, a coworking space for scaling tech companies in Galway city, employed 115 people through 36 companies.
Regional Energy Champion
AIBRegional Energy Champion
Mar. 2013 - Mar. 2015Northwest RegionMy role as a Regional Energy Champion was to embed a culture within the Northwest team of high performance work but ensuring balance, and that staff members maintained their energy levels leading to positive health outcomes. This was achieved by undertaking constant renewal under the headings of physical, spiritual, emotional and mental. I stimulated individuals to think about how they performed and possibly challenging their norms.
Bank Manager
AIBBank Manager
Dec. 2012 - Mar. 2015AIB Clifden, Co. GalwayLed and managed a team to provide a broad range of financial services to our personal and business customers in the West Galway / South Mayo areas. My role was to be the face of the organisation in the community, attending and contributing to business and community events in a meaningful way. After two years, Clifden was recognised as the third best performing branch out of over 200 branches nationwide despite absorbing staff reductions and getting to grips with a number of new technologies.
Retail & SME Manager
AIBRetail & SME Manager
Apr. 2008 - Dec. 2012AIB Claremorris, Ballyhaunis & KiltimaghMy responsibilities included leading and managing the branch retail team to achieve overall financial plans and deliver a superior service to customers across the three outlets. Key to this role was being a warm and engaging front of house leader who was on hand to deal with customer queries and issues across the outlets as they arose. There was a team of 17 staff under my control and this time provided an exciting learning opportunity in managing a multidisciplinary team. In 2012, AIB made the strategic decision to close two of those outlets and my role was to manage this transition to minimise the customer impact and to work with the staff through the significant changes presented by this decision.
