I also helped onboard a new team after we acquired a Dutch company and helped establish our presence in the Netherlands. I enjoyed the opportunity to be exposed to the world of Venture Capital and thrived conducting research and analyzing data to present to our C-suite.

Shortly after I joined we pivoted the offering to a Contracting service. We aimed to connect over 1000 developers with freelance opportunities. (That said, the OfferZen Make Days have since been revived. See link added) As a part of this 6-person startup-like team, we built a new product from scratch, venturing into uncharted territory for OfferZen's full-time employment-focused business. My role involved conducting extensive market and competitor research, analyzing business models, and assisting in designing and launching an MVP. I spearheaded business development, customer success, and operations, including account and project management, once the beta version was launched. We followed startup methodology, starting with an MVP and scaling it to a fully-fledged product with over 60 successful freelance missions. After gaining valuable insights, we shifted our focus to providing more high-value content and events to our community and international expansion.

This and the fact that I got to work closely with the CEO (at the time) and co-founder, Malan Joubert, to develop this offering. At JourneyApps, I closed many subscription deals, but designing the product and sales process was a new challenge. I followed Steve Blank's methodology on customer discovery and spoke to customers, collated data, implemented ideas, and received feedback. I iterated and repeated this process until I streamlined the product and sales process, and created collateral like the website copy, sales deck, and contract. Within three months of selling this product, I closed subscription sales equivalent to one year's revenue based on our transactional model. Although I learned these lessons while designing a sales product and process, the 4 Steps of the Lean Startup Cycle are transferable to any role. This offering has since evolved into the OfferZen Partner program.
